Kneelers, Non-Clinical

THE GUILD OF EX-PATIENTS AND FRIENDS OF GUY’S HOSPITAL:.. All this on Faces one and two of the kneeler, plus a diamond shaped pattern in red, yellow and green all around.
FRIENDS OF GUY’S FLOWER SHOP: With a bouquet of pansies.
ROD OF ASCLEPIUS: the snake around a stick. Caduceous?)
CRAFTS CLUB: Racing yacht, with red sails, number 4.
CLUBS UNION: With arrows and an archery target.
SEWING ROOM: A tape measure and scissors, spools of thread and thimbles.
VOLUNTARY HELPERS: Yellow shield, with VH in centre, and "To serve" above.
THE COUNTING HOUSE:(on Face 2) Face 1 has an Abacus, with the numbers written in Arabic numerals, the odd numbers on the left, and the even on the right. Bags of Money, with "£", "S", and "d" on them appear on one end, and a squirrel hoarding his store of nuts at the other.

THE WORKS DEPARTMENT: "Works Dept." appears on a white sign with a green border, slung up on scaffolding. A long wooden ladder is on either side of the sign, with buckets swinging on the end of a rope. Face 2 shows a wooden, 2 wheeled cart, with "GUY'S" on it. 3 has a brick wall (beautiful stretcher bond), with the trowel and mortar board of the brickie. Face 4 shows the pipe and (dripping!) tap of the plumber, and the tools of the chippie, saws and chisels. Finally, the electrician is depicted with both an electric bulb and a candle flame.

LAUNDRY: (on Face 2) We have four Faces of clothing on a washing line, flying merrily in the breeze. Seagulls overhead. Interestingly, no sheets (too large, and dull to stitch?) or obvious Nightwear, or indeed, Nurses Uniform, which were all washed for us.

KITCHEN: Huge stove and Batterie de Cuisine above. Sack of potatoes on the left and Oil bottle on right. Faces 3 and 5 show the Chef, in his tall hat pointing out the best bits: a chicken and chops; and a Dover Sole and an iced fruit cake. And lots of fresh vegetables.

THATCHINGS (Staff Convalescent Home): The name all on the front face. Face 2: "Made available by S.B. Askew, Esq." Face 3: Sailboats, and seagulls. Face 4: Road signs: London 67m. Dark Lane. The Drive. Pub sign Ship inn. Face 5: A sundial; croquet mallet, ball and hoop; red tennis racquet and ball.

MATRON’S HOUSE: This is a puzzle, we need some help! Two white? dogs are outside a red octagonal shape. Four kidney shapes in blue (?ponds), some gates, two pairs of flags,( one pair black and white checkered). Is this One Man (sic) and his Dog, and sheep trials???

HOLMESDALE: A magnificent brick building. Little lambs frolicking in the spring meadows Tools of the trade (of a baby nurse); a cap, bandages and safety pin, syringe, books, kidney dish, thermometer in a pot, a urinal.

GUY’S HOUSE: The name is written on Face 2. Face 1 has the steps up to the Collonade. "Dare Quam Accipere" is on Face 4.

THE WILLS LIBRARY: This has an open book.
THE NIGHTINGALE INSTITUTE: (Face 2) Main picture is of a woman’s head in profile, with garlands, in white on pale blue.
THE NURSES HOME: This has two kneeling winged angels, holding candles
